Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our year and all the blessings we have been given. We live in a wonderful country where we are free to express ourselves, share thoughts and ideas, and where most of us have plenty of resources and material comforts. In other countries, citizens might have to walk miles to get fresh water, hide their Bibles for fear of being killed, or even be treated as a slave.
Let us be thankful for our country that was formed by our forefathers as a REPUBLIC. A republic is a representative government ruled by law. It recognizes the unalienable rights of individuals. A republic requires approval from the three branches of government. Let us pray that our leaders continue to protect our republic form of government and the rights that this type of government provides.
What are your blessings today? Focus on what you have been given, even in hard times we can look up and see so many ways that we are blessed. We have family, friends, co-workers, and a church family that we can lean on in times of need. Who needs your healing touch today? Reach out to those in need and you will in turn be blessed.
The Bible has a lot to say about blessings and James 1:17 is one of my favorites – Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Let us thank Him who gives and wants us to give in return. Let us be thankful for everything around us. Even our trials are blessings in disguise.
May you and your loved ones have a blessed Thanksgiving.
